We will try stimulating neurons using a new principle based on non-linear and geometry-dependent electromagnetic waves. This new stimulation method is very different from and complementary to, e.g., magnetic, electrical, and optogenetic neuromodulation. DTU will work on designing and nanofabricating these new microchip-based stimulators, and KU and MGH/Harvard Medical School will test them in genetically modified mice.
