Lundbeckfonden BioCapital is the biotech investment unit of Lundbeckfonden. It includes the merged portfolios of Emerge and Venture and the respective teams which each have over a decade of successful investment track record.  The merger is a key step towards delivering on the 2030 strategy and the purpose of Lundbeckfonden “bringing discoveries to lives”.

Our team is composed of industry experts, who have entrepreneurial, operational, scientific, and financial experiences and insights.

Our evergreen fund structure allows us to take a long-term view of our investments, with the opportunity to provide follow-on investments to support portfolio companies attain their full potential.

Our ambition is to identify and work with teams that can solve unmet medical needs with a strong commercial potential. We add value to our investments through active involvement in the companies and highly engaged collaboration with management and boards.

The starting point for a dialogue with us can be either a commercial project idea based on new scientific insights or a business plan for an already established business looking for new financial investors. We are interested in both.

Our investments typically arise from innovative research in Denmark and the team may take operational roles to help and support researchers and founders in the challenging journey from science to company. We deploy equity financing as well as other relevant financing tools.

Our investment approach is always tailored to the specific project or company in question. We approach our projects and investments with a view to add not just financing but also relevant strategic, hands-on and operational support. Each project is considered on its own merits and with a focus on building value.
