CLINICAL POSTDOC

Jesper Gunst, MD, Aarhus University Hospital, has been awarded a postdoc research grant from Lundbeck Foundation worth DKK 2,496,498.

His project studies the treatment of HIV infections. Today, HIV, which causes AIDS, can only treated and kept under control with antiretroviral therapy. This makes it possible to inhibit HIV, thereby preventing AIDS from developing. However, there is currently no treatment that can entirely remove HIV from the body.

Jesper Gunst will treat patients with neutralising antibodies against HIV while the infection is in its early stages in order to suppress the infection for a longer period of time.
