A scientific challenge in neuroscience: How to overcome large placebo responses in clinical trials?

Professor Dr Med Lene Vase will use a recent breakthrough in the understanding of placebo response to develop new methods to test the effect of medical treatments.

She will test new methods to determine the relationship between the effect of active medication and placebo in patients suffering from migraine. The aim is to be able to specify when a medicine has a real effect. This can change the methods behind evidence-based medicine and contribute to the development and approval of better medical treatments.
