Visiting Professorships

Continuous Calls

The purpose of this call is to support Danish biomedical research groups to invite foreign guest researchers at the professor level to Denmark for 2-6 months to encourage collaboration between excellent senior scientists in Denmark and international peers.

Background

The Lundbeck Foundation’s ambition is to make Denmark leading in neuroscience research by funding relevant biomedical, health, clinical and other sciences in Denmark. The goal is to foster world-class research at Danish universities and Danish university hospitals. International collaboration is one of the best ways to elevate the Danish research environment and strengthen the career path of the researchers involved.

The Lundbeck Foundation believes that diversity strengthens science and for this reason diversity, including, but not limited to, gender and ethnic origin, is encouraged. We especially encourage scientists from groups that have been traditionally under-represented in academia, including women and scientists of diverse ethnic backgrounds, to apply.

Research theme

The research should be within the field of basic or clinical neuroscience, or science with clear relevance to or potential benefit for neuroscience. The term ‘neuroscience’ is used here in its broadest sense, hence including medical, technical, natural and social sciences as well as humanities.

Who can apply?

Biomedical research leaders - full or associate professors - at Danish non-commercial research institutions, who plan to invite an international colleague to Denmark.

Which proposals are eligible?

The visit must be of mutual benefit to your and your Danish research group’s/department’s research activities as well as the guest's. The entire grant must be managed by a Danish non-commercial research institution.

How much

You can apply for up to DKK 500,000 per grant for a period of two to six months. The grant covers additional documented expenses associated with the visit, eg travel, accommodation, running costs, technical support, but not salary for the visiting professor.

The application must include the following:

  • Research plan for the stay in Denmark.
  • Description of the collaborative project.
  • An explanation of the visiting professor’s scientific qualifications.
  • Statement explaining how the visiting professorship will strengthen the research at your Danish institution/department.
