Scientific Meetings & Conferences

Continuous Calls

The purpose of the grant is for the Lundbeck Foundation to support international scientific meetings and conferences, held in Denmark to encourage collaboration and exchange of ideas and resources between Danish researchers and their international peers.

Background

The Lundbeck Foundation’s ambition is to make Denmark leading in neuroscience research by funding relevant biomedical, health, clinical and other sciences in Denmark. The goal is to foster world-class research at Danish universities and Danish university hospitals. International collaboration and research knowledge exchange is one of the best ways to elevate the Danish research environment and strengthen the career path of the researchers involved.

The purpose of the grant is for the Lundbeck Foundation to support larger international scientific meetings and conferences, held in Denmark to encourage collaboration and exchange of ideas and resources between Danish researchers and their international peers.

Lundbeck Foundation believes that diversity strengthens science and for this reason diversity, including, but not limited to, gender and ethnic origin, is encouraged. It is therefore important that we receive applications from as many qualified scientists as possible, from all backgrounds.

Research theme

The research should be within the field of basic or clinical neuroscience, or science with clear relevance to neuroscience. The term ‘neuroscience’ is used here in its broadest sense, hence including medical, technical, natural and social sciences as well as humanities.

Who can apply?

Biomedical research leaders - full or associate professors - at Danish non-commercial research institutions, who plan to organize a larger scientific meeting or conference in Denmark possibly in collaboration with a relevant scientific society.

Which proposals are eligible?

The meeting/conference must be organized by a non-commercial Danish research institute or scientific society and must be:

  • International and taking place in Denmark.
  • The topic/focus for the scientific meeting/conference must be within neuroscience or a field with potential benefit for neuroscience - mainly within the area of brain and nervous system research.
  • Open for qualified attendees.
  • Arranged by Danish organisations, hospitals or universities or arranged in a close collaboration such Danish partners.
  • The intention is not to support project groups’ collaborative meetings.

How much?

You can apply for up to DKK 300,000 for expenses related to the meeting e.g. venue, travel and accommodation of invited speakers from abroad, catering, other. Up to 10% of the budget can be reserved for project-related, indirect costs if appropriately justified and based on a negotiation with the Foundation.

Please see the application form for further requirements and details.

You are welcome to contact Senior Grant Manager Ulla Jakobsen (uj@lundbeckfonden.com) if you have any questions regarding your application.

Evaluation process

The assessment process has one step. All applications are reviewed for eligibility and evaluated by the Foundation’s Grants & Prizes Department under a grant mandate for the Internationalisation Panel.

The evaluation will be based on:

  • The scientific quality of the proposed meeting
  • That the meeting is open for participation by interested researchers
  • That the criteria for application have been met
  • The benefit for Danish neuroscience research

What are the grant conditions

If your proposal is successful, a contract will be drafted. As part of this process, you and your host institution will be required to accept Lundbeck Foundation’s General Terms and Conditions for Research Grants as well as individual, project-specific amendments, including requests for indirect costs, which will be subject to negotiation.

The purpose of the Lundbeck Foundation is to create powerful ripple effects that bring discoveries to lives through investing actively in business and science at the frontiers of their fields.
