For many years, the Lundbeck Foundation has allocated a significant part of the annual research grants of more than DKK 500 million to strategic grants – grants, where the Foundation has identified the topics for the research. With the strategic grants, we aim to encourage research which will contribute to solving some of the major health science challenges in Denmark.
In 2016, we chose new ways in getting inspiration for our future strategic grants. We asked the outside world for input to which areas we should focus on and kick-started a dialogue with a broad range of stakeholders about what the needs are and how we as a foundation can enable the research to push some of these areas in Denmark. This dialogue is the basis for the thematic grants over the coming years.
