The Brain Prize is a personal research prize worth DKK 10 million. It is awarded once a year by the Lundbeck Foundation to one or more researchers worldwide, who have distinguished themselves by making an outstanding contribution to brain research and who are still active in research. The Brain Prize is the world’s largest brain research prize. Only nominated candidates will be considered for the prize. Re-nomination is permitted.

The Lundbeck Foundation also awards a ‘Young Investigator Prize’ and three ‘Talent Prizes’ every year, honouring outstanding researchers working in the field of biomedical sciences at Danish research institutions and, thus, drawing attention to the social value of research. It is not possible to apply for these prizes. Candidates must be nominated by leading scientists at Danish research institutions. Re-nomination is permitted.
The Lundbeck Foundation’s Young Investigator Prize is worth DKK 1 million. DKK 300,000 of this amount is a personal honorary award, while DKK 700,000 is earmarked for the prize winner’s research. The prize is given to a young scientist under the age of 40, and it is awarded once a year to acknowledge a particularly promising scientist who has produced outstanding research in the field of biomedical science.
The Lundbeck Foundation’s Grants & Prizes Committee reviews the nominations and then recommends one candidate to the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The prize winner must be conducting research at a Danish research institution at the time of the award.
The Lundbeck Foundation’s talent prizes are awarded every year to three young scientists under the age of 30.
The prize is worth DKK 500,000. DKK 150.000 of this amount is a personal honorary award, while DKK 350.000 is earmarked for the prize winner’s research. The prize is awarded once a year to scientists who have conducted particularly promising research in the field of biomedical science.
The Lundbeck Foundation’s Grants & Prizes Committee reviews the nominations and then recommends three candidates to the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The prize winners must be conducting research at a Danish research institution at the time of the award.
